There are 163 companies (-9 over 2010) present in Italy, with 22,189 employees (-4.98%), which during the course of 2011 produced 399.7 million square meters (+3.17%), leading to sales of 413.1 million m2 (+0.09%). The consuming markets show a different dynamic, with a collapse in Italy of -7.03% (114.9 million in 2011) faced with growth of exports of +3.13%, now equal to 298,3 million euros. Total sales were up: 4.71 billion euros (+1.86%) based on 3.57 billion from exports (+4.58%) and 1.146 billion in domestic sales (-5.75%).
